Library Login Information

Your PIN is your Personal Identification Number.   It is your Password   for entry into various parts of the system.  Your WSU ID number and your PIN function together to create a personal Login that are unique to you alone.   This personal Login may be used to view your Patron Record, Request an Item from Griffin or Summit, Save searches, receive new materials notification, or use Electronic Reserves placed in the system by your professors.   Your PIN can be any combination of numbers and letters up to 30 characters in length.

PIN Requirements:

Your PIN must be at least 6 characters and must be a mix of alpha and numeric characters.

Your PIN must not contain common trivial patterns. For example:
*  A character that is repeated three or more times(for example, aaaa, ababa, bbbb).
*  A set of two to four characters that is repeated two or more times (for example, abab, abcabc, abcdabcd).

Periods are not allowed in your PIN.

Special characters are not honored. (You may use them, but be aware that typing the number corresponding with a special character (no shift key) will be accepted as valid for login.) For example:
*  You enter the $ character when you create your PIN.   (i.e, $Password)
*  When you login either the $ or the 4 will be valid characters. ($Password or 4Password will both work.)

You do NOT have a PIN automatically assigned to you when your Patron Record is entered into the system, nor do we assign your PIN for you.  YOU choose and create your own PIN.

If you DO NOT yet have a PIN, you may leave the PIN field blank.  You will then be presented with a screen which will give you the opportunity to create a new PIN for yourself.  Enter your PIN twice and then remember it for future access to the system.

If you get the message - Sorry, the information you submitted was invalid. Please try again. - when you click the submit button, you have most likely either forgotten to add the leading zero to your WSU ID number, or you have a PIN in the system and have entered it incorrectly.

* The most common cause for an error message is failure to add a leading zero to your WSU ID number.

You may modify your PIN at any time by clicking on the "MY Record/Library" link on the main Griffin search screen and following the prompts.
